In the yacht charter industry catamarans have become very popular due to their stability, comfort and space. A catamaran is a multi-hulled sailing yacht consisting of two parallel hulls of equal size. Most yacht charter enthusiasts prefer the catamaran to mono-hull yachts as they do not heel over when sailing.

There are many types of catamarans manufactured by different companies. The major manufactures and their types are listed below.

  • Alliaura Marine (Privilège)
  • Fountaine Pajot (Belize, Lavezzi, Mahé, Bahia)
  • Lagoon
  • Robertson and Caine (Leopard)
  • St. Francis Marine
  • Voyage Catamarans

Today (2013) the most requested type of catamaran by charter guests is the Flybridge catamaran. The unique feature of this type of catamaran is that there is a extra seating/lounge area above the cockpit where guest yacht hang out for cocktails and get a better view of their surroundings.

This means that most catamarans can anchor or maneuver in very shallow waters that sailing yachts and power yacht cannot venture. On a Caribbean catamaran charter, for example, our guests may be able to visit secret, hard to reach anchorages that are not accessible to other type of yachts.
